SLID is a protective layer of gel inside the tough, in-mould constructed helmet’s liner that rotates and flows to disperse energy away from the delicate cranial area, ensuring shocks are effectively neutralised.
Other trademarked features you’ll only benefit from if you wear HJC include the CoolPath™ Interior, which replaces traditional pads with a liner than encourages airflow around the head as you ride, and the Selfit™ system, a five-step solution to help you achieve the perfect fit.
The latter lets you set five snap fitting positions the first time you try the helmet, but afterwards requires no further adjustment, automatically closing any gaps as you move and ride to ensure the head remains cradled as per your specifications.
Beyond CoolPath™, cooling is delivered by the helmet’s Advanced Ventilation System, a pattern of 19 channels that first draw in a large amount of air, through generous intake vents, then elevate the surface flow rate to draw heat away from the head fast, before finally expelling it through rear vents with minimal drag force.
Speed is in HJC’s DNA, and the aerodynamics are scrutinised as carefully in its bicycle helmets as in its motorcycle lids. The Bellus has been painstakingly wind tunnel tested in the brand’s own laboratory, to ensure that it achieves the perfect balance of speed and comfort.
The Bellus’s new shape and improved fit and comfort, along with its advanced technical features, make it one of HJC’s best all-round helmets.
